OfficePort begins adding tenants
The Kansas City Business Journal recently wrote up our operations.
About three weeks from its birth, OfficePort — which charges $400 a month for a fully prepared workspace, no lease required — has hit a growth spurt. The incubator holds nine companies. Based on the interest, developers Shaul Jolles and Mike Edmondson have stretched the initial footprint of 7,000 square feet to fill the entire 20,000-square-foot structure, a print shop until Dec. 31. They’re in talks with groups such as the University of Missouri-Kansas City and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation about entrepreneur programs there.
“If a small business is to have any chance of succeeding in this economy, it’s here because the overhead is so low,” Jolles said. “They need to bring only a computer.”
